Viral Toxin NS1 Implication in Dengue Pathogenesis Making It a Pivotal Target in Development of Efficient Vaccine

The mosquito-borne viral disease dengue is a global public health problem causing wide spectrum of clinical manifestations ranging from mild fever to severe with plasma leakage and bleeding which are often fatal. To date, there no specific medications treat prevent the risk hemorrhage. Dengue caused by one four genetically related but antigenically distinct serotypes DENV-1–DENV-4. growing burden DENV has intensified both basic applied research better understand physiopathology. Research shown that secreted soluble hexameric form nonstructural protein-1 (sNS1) plays significant role in pathogenesis dengue. Here, we provide an overview current knowledge about sNS1 immunopathogenesis disease. We discuss potential use future vaccine development its improve efficiency, particularly against illness.
